Penis enlargement

Penis enlargement can, at times, be a confusing business. There’s so much information out there, but not all of it is reliable or accurate – and that can make it difficult to separate fact from fiction.
In this section, we’ll run through the various penis enlargement techniques available to you. We’ll also explain, with the help of scientific evidence, how they work.
Penis traction
Traction devices, like the Male Edge penis enlarger, promote cell division and multiplication in the penis. Over time, this causes the penis to grow, both in length and girth.
In 2002, a study in the International Journal of Impotence Research stated categorically that traction-based penis enlargers are successful at increasing penis size – and with no side effects whatsoever (scroll down to (P-155 for details). The study says:
Results: In all subjects the elongation of the penis was proportional to the device time of use. After four months the stretched penis augmentation was +1.8cm (range +0.5 - +3.1cm). The daily average was 6½ hours (range 3-9 hours). No side effects occurred.
Conclusions: Our data show the efficacy of the penis-stretching physiotherapy in the “small penis” treatment.
Penis enlargement surgery
Penis enlargement surgery is an extreme solution, usually only recommended to men who have suffered a severe injury or have other major problems that need to be corrected. Enlargement surgery works by releasing ligaments in the penis, allowing more of the penile shaft to protrude from the body.
In 2006, a study published in European Urology found that only 35% of men who underwent penis enlargement surgery were satisfied with the results. The report says:
The data published in this paper have demonstrated that on average these procedures elongate the external part of the penile shaft by only 1 cm.
Penis pumps
Penis pumps create suction around the shaft and draw blood into the penis. This helps men to form a strong erection and, in the short-term, can give the impression of a larger penis.
However, a scientific study by the Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2005 into the efficacy of penis pumps found that they do not lead to any notable increase in size. The study says:
Results: After 6 months, the mean penile length had increased from 7.6cm to 7.9cm (no significant difference).
Conclusion: Vacuum treatment of the penis is not an effective method for penile elongation, but provides psychological satisfaction for some men.
Penis enlargement pills
Anybody with an email account will be aware that penis enlargement pills are heavily – and indiscriminately – marketed. Significantly, however, there is absolutely no scientific evidence to suggest that penis enlargement pills are in any way effective.
As highlighted by Flora Research of California and by the University of Maryland, customers choosing penis enlargement pills should also be aware that the pills may contain potentially dangerous levels of E. Coli, heavy metals and pesticides, among other things.
Jelqing
The theory behind jelqing is that it exercises muscles and tissue in the penis – and ultimately increases penis size. According to advocates, the jelqing technique works by drawing blood through the penis towards the glans, which increases vascularity in the corpus cavernosa.
At present, there is very little hard scientific evidence to back up this claim but the technique remains popular. Online, there are literally thousands of websites devoted to jelqing – often offering conflicting explanations of how it works. In some cases, jelqing is promoted as a technique to maximise the potential of using a scientifically proven traction-based penis enlarger.
